Context

With the Central Bank of Ireland’s increased focus on the governance of Credit Unions, the role of the Board, and by extension the role of the Chair of the Board, is now subject to more intensive regulatory supervision and ever-increasing standards.

Consequently, the Chair of the Board is expected to have a high level of knowledge and skills to perform their tasks (as set out in Section 55A of the Credit Union Act 1997 and the Credit Union Handbook) as well as being able to evidence their own development. This course has been specially designed to develop and consolidate the competencies of a Chair of the Board of Credit Unions.
