Fiachra Durkan

Fiachra is a Junior Solutions Builder in the firm’s Solutions team. Fiachra adopts design thinking methodologies to define, design, and develop governance, risk, and compliance technology solutions for our clients using the proprietary platform of our technology partner, FinReg Global Solutions. Fiachra works with a range of clients operating across the accounting, banking, insurance, and technology sectors.

Education, previous work experience

Fiachra holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Product Design from Technological University Dublin where he attained a First Class Honours. Throughout his time at university, Fiachra served as a class representative for his year group and as a secretary for the Design Society.

Fiachra has experience within the Medical Device Design sector working with an international company. He was also one of 60 teams to be invited to compete in ‘StageTwo’, the first pan-European startup competition, involving leading European universities with his Wireless ECG device design. Fiachra also has extensive experience in the signage sector, both commercial and municipal, with duties ranging from graphic design to manufacture and installation.

Fiachra has recently been awarded the national winner of the ‘Engineers Without Borders’ competition, ‘Where There Is No Engineer’, for his open-source sustainable printer ink which aims to open the possibility of sustainable print media for use in classrooms in underdeveloped areas.

Fiachra has worked on voluntary initiatives with UCD where he was part of a small team who storyboarded, directed, and edited a short promotional video with the Leinster Rugby team for Daffodil Day 2020.

Personal

Fiachra enjoys hiking in scenic landscapes and keeping fit by going to the gym regularly. He also loves to travel to various cities across the world and immersing himself in different cultures with a particular appreciation for trying local foods.

Fiachra enjoys keeping his design mind active in his spare time by modeling products on various CAD software and prototyping at home with his personal 3D printer.
