EisnerAmper Ireland takes part in roundtable discussion with Ibec, Australian Embassy and Irish Australia Chamber of Commerce

On Friday 27 October, Gavin Redmond, Supervisor in EisnerAmper Ireland’s International Business Team, attended a roundtable with Alison Burrows, Australian Chief Negotiator in upcoming EU-Australia trade negotiations.  The event, hosted by Ibec, was a collaboration with the Embassy of Australia in Ireland and the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce.

On 13 September, the European Commission recommended that the EU launch trade negotiations with Australia.  In addition to guaranteeing access to the Australian market, the Commission hopes to secure a deal that will provide a solid platform for deeper integration with wider Asia-Pacific value chains.  The event was an opportunity to present the Irish business position and receive a high-level briefing on the proposed free-trade area (FTA). Among the items discussed were Brexit, Europe as a leader in Free Trade following the U.S.A.’s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, opportunities and threats posed by the FTA and the mutual recognition of “behind-the-border” barriers to trade.

At EisnerAmper Ireland, we create business and compliance solutions to make trade happen.  This includes assisting and advising global technology and life sciences businesses, financial institutions and their advisors on internationalisation.  To read more about our services to the International business community, see our International Trade page.
