EisnerAmper Ireland attend the Insurance Ireland Annual Lunch 2018

On Wednesday, 2 May 2018 Dave Montgomery, Partner, Risk & Regulatory; Tom Brennan, Partner, Risk & Regulatory; and Gavin Lee, Head of International Trade at EisnerAmper Ireland attended the Insurance Ireland Annual Lunch 2018. The flagship annual gathering for the insurance industry was held in the Intercontinental Hotel, Dublin 4. The event was a great opportunity for organisations across the Insurance market to meet and to network.

The guest of honour for the event was Professor Alan Ahearne, Director of the Whitaker Institute, Professor of Economics at NUI Galway and member of the Commission of the Central Bank of Ireland and Chair of the joint ESRI/Department of Finance Research Programme on the Macro-economy and Taxation.

EisnerAmper Singapore hosts launch event

On Thursday, 19 April 2018, EisnerAmper Singapore (formerly Saw Meng Tee & Partners PAC) held its official launch in The Westin, Singapore.  Speakers at the launch event included Saw Meng Tee, Managing Partner of EisnerAmper Singapore; Nicholas Tsafos, Director and Chairman of the Board of EisnerAmper Global; Alastair MacDonald, Managing Partner of EisnerAmper Ireland; and Charles Weinstein, Chief Executive Officer of EisnerAmper LLP.

More than 200 people attended the welcome luncheon at The Westin and the event was hosted by Steven Chia of Chanel News Asia.  Attendees from Singapore’s Monetary Authority and Economic Development Board helped underscore the importance of this move for both EisnerAmper Global and the Republic of Singapore. The afternoon also included an informative Q&A session facilitated by Chia.

EisnerAmper Singapore provides specialist accounting, advisory, outsourcing and risk & regulatory services to international and domestic clients operating in Singapore and across Asia.  At EisnerAmper Singapore’s launch, Managing Partner Saw Meng Tee told guests “We have taken 18 years since setting up our firm in 1999 to reach this milestone and we would like to thank everyone for your support and patience as we grew. Thank you for supporting us through our rebranding”.

EisnerAmper Ireland and Saw Meng Tee & Partners PAC have been working closely together over the past two years to further develop existing ties between Ireland and Singapore.

EisnerAmper Ireland hosts coffee morning for Daffodil Day 2018

On Friday 23 March 2018, EisnerAmper Ireland hosted a coffee morning in aid of the Irish Cancer Society for Daffodil Day 2018.  It was great to support an excellent cause while enjoying some delicious cakes made by our hardworking EisnerAmper Ireland team.

Each year Daffodil Day sees thousands of volunteers selling daffodil pins and flowers on streets, in businesses, homes and in shopping centres across Ireland; or hosting a Daffodil Day Coffee Morning to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society’s nationwide care services for those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland. Insurance Ireland Annual INED Seminar 2018 supported by EisnerAmper Ireland

On Thursday, 22 February, Insurance Ireland, supported by EisnerAmper Ireland, hosted its Annual INED Seminar in the National Concert Hall, Dublin 2.  The event was a great success and we were delighted to have the opportunity for members of our team to connect with the Insurance & Reinsurance INED community.  The theme of this year’s seminar was “The Role of the INED – Expectations, Challenges and Opportunities”.

MC for the event was Dave Montgomery, Partner and Head of Risk & Regulatory at EisnerAmper Ireland. The keynote speakers were Sylvia Cronin, Director of Insurance Supervision, Central Bank of Ireland and Thomas B. Considine, Chief Executive Officer, The National Council of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), New Jersey, USA.  The panel also included Kevin Thompson, CEO, Insurance Ireland, and Vincent Sheridan, Chairman, Insurance Ireland INED Council.

EisnerAmper Ireland Celebrates Pancake Tuesday & Valentines Day

On February 13 & 14 2018, EisnerAmper Ireland celebrated Pancake Tuesday and Valentines Day in our Dublin office.

On Tuesday, Pancakes were made in the kitchen for all staff to enjoy, in order to take a brief break from working hard on behalf of our clients.

On Wednesday, a gift-bag of chocolates was left on all staff members’ desks.

Clodagh Byrne wins Innovation Challenge at Future Leaders’ Hackathon 2018

EisnerAmper Ireland congratulates Clodagh Byrne, Assistant Manager from our Risk & Regulatory department, whose team at the Future Leaders’ Hackathon 2018 won the ‘Innovation Challenge’ award.  The event saw over 100 participants, competing in teams to create an innovation, service or product that facilitates Ireland to be the best place to live and work.

Clodagh’s team ‘DataLock’ consisted of 9 ‘Future Leaders’ whose multidisciplinary skills and hard-efforts won them the prize.

Hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, in partnership with the DCU Ryan Academy, the Future Leaders’ Hackathon provides a fantastic opportunity for nominated future leaders to ‘hothouse’ their leadership skills – communications, marketing, team-building, negotiating, pitching, presenting – to network in a fun, competitive environment and to create innovative solutions. EisnerAmper Ireland takes part in Future Leaders’ Hackathon 2018

EisnerAmper Ireland’s Clodagh Byrne, Assistant Manager, Risk & Regulatory and Barry Horan, Supervisor, International Business are taking part in the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland’s Future Leaders’ Hackathon 2018 in DCU St Patrick’s Campus from Thursday February 8 to Saturday February 10.

The Hackathon involves a gathering of 80 – 100 future leaders from the American Chambers’ member firms, to form multi-disciplinary cross-sector teams to hack solutions and create an innovation, service or product that facilitates Ireland to be the best place to live and work.

EisnerAmper Ireland attend Financial Reporting training course

On Wednesday 24 January 2018, EisnerAmper Ireland staff attended an Audit and Accounting Training session in the Clayton Hotel Leopardstown presented by Mercia, a leading provider of training services to accountants in the UK and Ireland.  The financial reporting training was provided by University of Ulster Professor of Financial Reporting Robert Kirk.

The course covered topics including observations noted by IAASA related to Irish financial statements; financial instruments; leases; revenue from contracts with customers; insurance contracts; a comparison of FRS 102 1A and FRS 105; other recent changes to Irish and UK GAAP; ethical standards; and public interest entities.
