New York, Week 10 – Last engagement
Having worked on broker-dealerships and a private equity fund, I am now working on a hedge fund. I have a keen interest in the financial markets and therefore to audit a hedge fund is something I am thoroughly enjoying. It is quite challenging to gain an understanding of how the fund
operates and how the allocations are distributed between all the partners but I feel I am meeting the challenge well. This is my last engagement in New York and I am trying to gain every ounce of experience I possibly can.
As my secondment is almost over, a number of my fellow secondees and I went for a meal with one of the managers and two of the HR staff of EisnerAmper LLP. We went to Keens Steakhouse which is the oldest steakhouse in NYC. The meal was excellent and it was a pleasure to experience it with five people I had never met before my secondment started. New York has been amazing and I would highly recommend visiting this wonderful city!
US secondees blog 2016 →New York, Week 10 – Our last week
Our last week was a busy one as we were trying to complete as much work as we could before heading home. The managers have been very helpful and we have learned so much during our time here.
On Friday we went to our last work happy hour and to see a live band with some of the EisnerAmper LLP staff. We spent our weekend with our fellow secondees from South Africa, making the most of our last few days together before saying our goodbyes!
US secondees blog 2016 →EisnerAmper Ireland appointed to Irish Funds Industry Association Working Groups
We are pleased to announce that five nominees from EisnerAmper Ireland have been appointed to Irish Funds Industry Association (“IFIA”) Working Groups (“WG”) for 2016:

- Ray Kelly (Financial Reporting WG);
- Alastair MacDonald (Private Equity WG); and
- David Montgomery (Risk WG).
These WGs are a critical industry resource and play a central role in both the identification and consideration of key industry issues. Members actively participate in and undertake tasks necessary to deliver on the agreed objectives and projects of their relevant groups. Our representatives look forward to building on the success and hard work of their industry colleagues who contributed to the outgoing working groups.

Latest News →New York, Week 10 – All hands on deck
With only 4 weeks left until the deadline now, it is all hands on deck. I am preparing work papers for various entities to complete 1065 Partnership returns. Among other things, we have to enter partner details and ensure the allocations provided by the client are correct. I have also been anaylsing K1 returns in order to provide summaries within the work papers.
I’m trying to make the most of the final few weeks I have left in the USA, so I decided to take a trip to Philadelphia with a friend. We visited many attractions including the City Hall, Liberty Bell and Reading Terminal Market. however, a trip to Philly would not be complete without running up the iconic “Rocky” steps at the Museum of Art. On the day the city also held their annual St Patrick’s Day Parade. Amongst the various skills and craft on display we were pleased to see Irish dancing and music. I even got a wave from the current Rose of Tralee, Elysha Brennan, as she went by on her float.
US secondees blog 2016 →New York, Week 9 – Wrapping up
For my last two weeks, I was working closely with my managers to ensure all of my jobs were wrapped up prior to my departure. This whole experience has been great as I got to obtain a large amount of hands on funds experience.
Finishing up our secondment the day before St Patrick’s day meant we were free to explore New York on one of the biggest days of the year. We headed out to see the parade and witness all of the Americans in their authentic Irish clothing.
