July 2012 – Sailing

Despite the very changeable weather of late, Friday 27th July was both calm and sunny as the MKO (now EisnerAmper Ireland) team set sail from Dun Laoghaire Harbour for the Firm’s inaugural sailing regatta.

While the initial pace was leisurely, once teams had circumnavigated Dalkey Island, it was all hands on deck for the return leg back to Dun Laoghaire harbour!

The event was followed by a BBQ in the National Yacht Club. With good weather, great food and the scenic backdrop of Dun Laoghaire Harbour, an enjoyable afternoon and evening was had by all.

Frank Keane, Partner and Head of International Business at MKO (now EisnerAmper Ireland), along with members of MKO’s (now EisnerAmper Ireland’s) International Business team travelled to the US last week as part of the Ireland, Gateway to Europe 2015 initiative to share their expertise and promote Ireland as a location to do business. Co-founded by MKO (now EisnerAmper Ireland), Gateway to Europe is Ireland’s largest private industry-led FDI initiative to assist US based founders, CFOs, CTOs and VCs considering using Ireland as a base to internationalise.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative comprises a mission of 25 business leaders who organise and host events throughout the year, culminating in an annual trip to the US to meet with local businesses that are looking to expand in Europe and to provide information to US corporates on the practicalities of doing business in and from Ireland and Europe.  This year, events took place in Chicago and Atlanta on April 12-17.  Hundreds of “C” level executives attended the events over the week.

The trade mission commenced on Monday 13th April with a full day itinerary on campus in Notre Dame University with a series of conferences with leading US academics, business schools and it’s world renowned business alumni, and a keynote speech delivered by former President of Ireland, Dr Mary McAleese.

Tuesday, 14th April and Thursday, 16th April saw hundreds of attendees gather at Willis Tower, Chicago,  and World Trade Center, Atlanta for a breakfast symposium and investment evening respectively. Invited guests from some of the most innovative and growth focused companies operating in the MidWest heard case studies and stories of why their peers use Ireland as a base and they had the opportunity to meet the specialist Irish service providers who have the local intelligence to assist them.

On Wednesday, 15th April, a Lunch and Learn event in the iconic ‘1871’ technology start up hub gave the perfect opportunity for start-ups and high growth businesses to learn about the benefits of scaling EMEA operations using Ireland as a base.

New York, 11 March 2015 – An ordinary Sunday evening in NYC!

Andrew Duignan

During week 8, I began working on two private equity entities.  As all my experience to date was with a large hedge fund, learning about this new area of fund auditing has been very interesting.  From reviewing LPA agreements to valuing Level 3 investments – it certainly has been a busy week!NW AD 11.03

We decided to head out to Brooklyn Heights to check out the views and we were definitely not disappointed.  We also managed to drop by Wall Street for a photo with the iconic charging bull! Myself and Louise also stumbled upon Richard Gere filming a new movie outside Grand Central on Sunday night.  Standard Sunday evening!

San Francisco, 11 March 2015 – Saturday nights in North Beach

Roisin Cahill

It’s really hard to believe that we’re now halfway through our final month here!  The broker-dealer deadline has passed, and all of our clients got their accounts filed on time, thankfully!  The team and I took some time to enjoy a fantastic lunch in the sun at the Ferry Building after the deadline but since then it’s been straight back into the audits of EisnerAmper’s other financial services clients.  This week I’ve been working on the audit of an insurance broker based in Foster City, about 30 minutes south of San Fran.

Karl and I both celebrated our birthdays this past weekend so, to mark the occasion, we paid a visit to an Irish bar which also conveniently houses an acclaimed Indian restaurant, the perfect location for us and our colleagues from the Mumbai office to celebrate.  We met up with some friends afterwards to check out San Fran’s lively North Beach neighbourhood.

New York, 4 March 2015 – All the hard work is paying off!

Josie Egan

The clients’ tight internal deadlines for the numbers to be finalised led to a busy week of auditing for the team and myself.  However, we’re now through to reviewing the Financial Statements and we can see all our hard work paying off.

On Saturday morning the winter sun was shining so we decided the only way to blow away Friday night’s happy hour cobwebs was to take a trip to Central Park.  We had a delicious brunch at the boathouse then hit Trumps skating rink.  So much fun!JE 4.3

San Francisco, 4 March 2015 – A very early start

Karl Purcell

My first few audits of busy season 2015 have been finalised this week and I’m into the final stretch on the second batch as I look to wrap up as many as possible prior to heading back to Dublin.

A painfully early 6.30am start to watch the Ireland vs. England match on Sunday morning in our new local.   Unsurprisingly the placed was filled to the rafters with a good mix of Irish and English fans so the atmosphere was lively to say the least!
