EisnerAmper US Secondee Programme

Each year members of EisnerAmper Ireland’s Financial Services and International Trade teams are selected to travel to the United States in January to partake in a Funds Audit Secondment Programme with EisnerAmper LLP (“EisnerAmper”). EisnerAmper is a top 20 US Accounting and Advisory firm and is among the largest in the United States, with nearly 1,200 employees, including 180 partners.

This year’s International Secondees are Niamh Hickey, Joseph Halligan and Aidan Lundy. You can  follow their experience via their individual blog posts, which give insights into their lives in the US as they balance their audit schedules and training with sightseeing and immersing themselves in the culture of New York.  Additionally, each year, staff members from EisnerAmper LLP are also selected to travel to Ireland to partake in a Secondment Programme with EisnerAmper Ireland.

On 7 – 8 December, Alastair MacDonald, Managing Partner, and Frank Keane, Partner & Head of International Business at EisnerAmper Ireland, were delighted to welcome Meng Tee, founder of and Partner in Saw Meng Tee & Partners PAC, Singapore, and to welcome Nick Tsafos, Partner in EisnerAmper LLP’s New York office, to EisnerAmper Ireland.

Christmas jumper day at EisnerAmper Ireland

On Friday, 16 December staff in EisnerAmper Ireland were invited to wear a Christmas jumper to the office to help support and raise awareness for Focus Ireland. Focus Ireland works with people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes across Ireland. They offer individuals, and families, advice, support, education and housing to help people to have and keep a home. All of us at EisnerAmper Ireland are delighted to support such a great charity, especially at Christmas time.

For the 4th year running, EisnerAmper Ireland was delighted to take part in the Giving Tree Campaign in aid of the Society of St Vincent de Paul. The Christmas presents bought by EisnerAmper Ireland staff were collected by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and will be distributed to families and children, who are struggling in our community. On Thursday 24 November, Clodagh Byrne, Senior in our International Business Team, attended the Dublin launch of Future Leaders Forum, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland in Facebook’s offices on Grand Canal Square.

The guest speakers, Gareth Lambe, Head of Facebook Ireland, Majella Mungovan, Finance Director at Facebook, Noel Rock, TD for Dublin North West and Iseult Ward, CEO of FoodCloud, all participated in a panel discussion, sharing insights on their successful careers and giving advices for future leaders.

Our people are key to realising our vision to be recognised as Ireland’s leading professional services firm. Our approach to learning and development reflects this. EisnerAmper Ireland provides our team with a comprehensive range of competency, skills, business and technical training throughout the year.

This training includes an annual two day residential training programme (EisnerAmper Ireland’s Academy) every November. The residential programme is specifically designed for staff to accelerate their “on the job” learning and to ultimately become excellent advisers and practitioners. On 17 and 18 November 2016, the fifth residential programme was held in Seafield Golf & Spa Hotel in Gorey, Co. Wexford. The theme of the programme was “Risk and Opportunity” and included workshops, technical training, panel discussions and team building exercises. This year we were delighted to have a representative of EisnerAmper United States, Peter Cogan, Partner and Co-chair of the firm’s Financial Services Group, join us for the two day training session.

EisnerAmper Ireland attends “Making your Mark” conference

On Thursday 3 November, Clodagh Byrne, from EisnerAmper Ireland’s International Business Team, and Heather Foley, from EisnerAmper Ireland’s Financial Services Team, attended the annual Chartered Accountants Ireland Student Society conference “Making your Mark” in Chartered Accountants House.  Speakers included representatives of Professional Services and Financial Services Firms and addressed an audience of over 80 trainees, focusing on the prospects of progression as chartered accountants, and maintaining a work life balance.  The key speaker of the night was Niall Harbison, the founder of the Lovin Group, who shared his journey in creating the Group and his goals towards becoming a global brand.  For more details, you can find the agenda of the conference at the following link.

Ireland Canada Business Association 2016 Business Summit

On Thursday 27 October, Frank Keane, Head of International Business, attended the Ireland Canada Business Association (ICBA) 2016 Business Summit at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in St. Stephens Green, Dublin with Juron Kinnear, VP Corporate and Legal Affairs at Yroo. Yroo, a Canadian born search engine for shoppers, is expanding its Dublin office in order to build out global operations and is set to create 33 jobs in Ireland over the next three years.

The summit, “Celebrating and Strengthening the Business Links between Ireland & Canada” had four sessions over the course of the day consisting of panel discussions which focused on various aspects of deepening connections and improving trade and investment between Canada and Ireland. As part of the final panel discussion of the day “Investing in Ireland: The Canadian experience”, Juron, shared his experience of working with EisnerAmper Ireland to establish the business in Europe using Ireland as a base.

EisnerAmper Ireland exceed national average in FAE results

The Chartered Accountants Ireland FAE 2016 results were released today, Friday 28 October, and EisnerAmper Ireland students have exceeded the national performance with an 87.5% overall pass rate and a 100% pass rate in the Core exam. This result is proof, not only of the extensive hard work our trainees put into achieving their qualification, but also of the dedication that EisnerAmper Ireland put into supporting, coaching and training all staff members.

This coaching and training is unrivaled and includes c.30 bespoke training sessions, monthly learning afternoons and twice yearly off site residential training programmes. We value education, not just qualifications. Members of our team lecture on FAE and CAP 2 programmes, act as External Examiners, correct mock papers, sit on education boards and write accounting books, giving our trainees access to some of the leading professionals in the industry.

Frank Keane, Head of International Business and Jennifer Kelly, International Business Director, travelled to Florence on Friday 21 October to attend the Premier International Associates Conference.

EisnerAmper Ireland is a member of Premier International Associates, a global network of accounting, tax, legal and business consulting firms. The bi-annual conference presents members with the opportunity to build relationships with member firms and to gain in-depth insights into technical updates through attending the presentations, Q&A sessions, group discussions and workshops offered by members. The conference is a great opportunity for EisnerAmper Ireland to network with other member firms and build close connections with members such as Saw Meng Tee pictured here with Frank Keane.

EisnerAmper Ireland Pitch & Putt tournament

On Thursday 27 October 2016, EisnerAmper Ireland staff enjoyed an afternoon of team sport in Stepaside.  The afternoon began with staff members taking part in the inaugural EisnerAmper Ireland Pitch & Putt tournament in Jamestown Pitch & Putt club, Stepaside.  A great afternoon of fun was had by all, with everyone trying their best to get a hole in one!  The afternoon was followed by dinner in the Wild Goose Grill, Ranelagh.  The presentation ceremony took place after dinner and the winning team, made up of Aidan Lundy, Joseph Halligan, Hao Wang and Anna Curley, was presented with well-deserved trophies and vouchers.  Staff members Nadia Farrelly and Shauna Devaney were also awarded “Most improved player”.
